Austria won the closing nations team event and knocked off hosts Sweden of the medals table at the World Alpine skiing championship - dominating the Super G and the slalom event.

The Austrian contingents turned out the best in the contest, ending the two-week competition with nine medals comprising three golds, three silvers and three bronze - followed by Sweden with three golds (all from Anja Paerson) two silvers and two bronze while Switzerland finished third in the years winter sports.
The event comprised of 11 teams each with a team of two men and two women racers - Austria bagged 18 points while Sweden and Switzerland managed 33 and 39 respectively, under the point system where the team with least points declared the winner - the biggest looser of the event was the United States who without their ace competitor Bode Miller (out with injury) finished last.
