He may not be well known as a downhill skier... But the World Cup champion is keen to rock at the downhill races this season... Benni Raich had finished 10th in Kitzbuehel last season to record his best ever downhill finish.
The 28-year-old, Raich is the double Olympic champion in slalom and giant slalom at the Torino Games; he is keen in improving upon his downhill record as well as retain his overall Crystal Globe.
I now have three years’ experience in the downhill and I want to make use of that.
He won the combined title at the 2005 world championships in Bormio, rising up to the third position in the downhill portion of the combined event.
Hope that the champ does well this time in the downhill event...He has been practicing hard for the same... But his main focus should be on the next year’s world championships in Are, Sweden, that begins early February next year.
