The World cup season opens this weekend with slalom races in Levi, Finland, the season was originally scheduled to begin two weeks back in Soelden, Austria, but stood canceled due to rain and warm weather. There is good news for the Americans; Bode Miller is hoping to compete with the defending overall champion Benjamin Raich, at the world’s this season.
Miller will make a comeback into the season hoping to better his last season performance, the American had hoped of winning all five events in Turin Olympics, but came out of Italy without a medal.
Raich, the Olympic slalom champion, won last year’s overall title by more than 400 points, and this season is focusing on the downhill event.
“I have three year’s experience in the downhill at this point and I want to use that,” the Austrian said. “I’m still targeting the overall title but I have a lot of goals this year.”
But when it comes to the downhill, Miller is the champion, when he goes into the world championships in Are, Sweden; he will be the defending champion and super-G world champion. It will be a fierce battle between the Australian and the American this season when each will try and dominate the other.
