You may call it a sheer luck of the Irish for Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, and the super fortunate close by setting of a gas station for an East Jordan-Charlevoix sophomore standout. In a tense and tightly challenged contest Pontiac Notre Dame Prep won its first girls Class B-C-D state ski title along with Iron Mountain, 119-119.1, Monday at Nub’s Nob. The Fighting Irish won on the fifth-skier tie-breaker. Harbor Springs, 125, was declared third, while Boyne City 129 had to content with fourth position.
