Extreme Skiing, the places, the equipment, the fun
Austrian Marlies Schild, needed a mere eighth place in the second leg of the event to wrap the world title – the world silver medalist finished easily ahead of Sierra Nevada to bag the sixth win of the season and also the women’s World Cup slalom title. Winning the title Schild’s has become the first Austrian woman to win the slalom title since Egger won it in the year 1999. The win also puts the Austrian on course to match Janica Kostelic’s feat of eight slalom wins in a season. Schild wants to go past Janica Kostelic’s record and also wishes to compete in her less favored event the downhill, in the quest to earn some more points to add up in the Overall standing.
