Forbes.com has a list of ski resorts which are meant only for those who are so passionate about this adventure sport that shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars doesn’t hurt.
Take for instance, Spanish Peaks in Big Sky, Mont., charges members between $500,000 and $1.3 million for access to 3,500 private acres of skiable terrain and an 18-hole golf course. Tallus, a members’ club in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., charges $795,000 for each member, along with quarterly fees of $3,418 and approximately $13,672 in annual fees.
Think twice before taking up this sport as hobby unless you are a crowned prince.

am a boarder myself...and yes, ski or board, it’s a hobby that does tend to make a dent in my savings account each season. there’s a great book of ski resorts from A-Z around the world that lists the cool places to stay (Little Cream Book: Powder; you can find it at www.littlecreambook.com). i’d like to ski all the resorts at some point...oukaimeden anyone? (that’s in Morocco!) so i’m saving up for that round-the-world year-round ski holiday.
